About Ramanathaswamy Temple
Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram is one of 12 Jyotirlinga shrines and one of the four Hindu Dhamas. Lord Rama worshipped Shiva here to atone for slaying Ravana. The temple has the longest corridor of any Hindu temple (197 metres on each side). The 22-well Theerthavari bathing ritual is the core pilgrimage experience.
