About Nanjangud Srikanteshwara Temple

Called Dakshina Kashi (South Kasi), this is one of the most important Shiva temples in Karnataka on the banks of the Kapila river. Shiva is worshipped as Srikanteshwara (one with the blue throat — who drank the cosmic poison). The annual Doddajatre festival is one of the largest in Karnataka.
